Small businesses are an extremely crucial part of American life because they are the lifeblood of our whole economy. Most businesses are small to medium in size and are basically the foundation upon which our entire country and economy was built.  Please enjoy our new quarterly feature called Small Business Spotlight, that will highlight a small business in our surrounding area.  This quarter our Small Business Spotlight is Final Bow: Center for Children’s Performing Arts in Greenville, Ohio.

Name/Title: Hillary Holzapfel  – Executive Director, Lindsey Ausborn – Artistic Director

Name of Business: Final Bow: Center for Children’s Performing Arts

Briefly describe your business: Final Bow: Center for Children’s Performing Arts is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire children through the performing arts, to reach their full potential, and be a positive influence in the community. Final Bow offers multiple opportunities for children to participate in theatre, music and dance. We also offer classes for adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities; Artistic Variations and Kendall’s Music Crew.  We have many performances throughout the year, performing at festivals, First Friday’s, community events and our own shows at Versailles Performing Arts Center and St. Clair Memorial Hall.

When did your business start?  Final Bow was established December 19th , 2013.

How did you get started in this business? Hillary Holzapfel, along with Joel and Becky Hootman, co-founded Final Bow, six years ago, when they realized there was a lack of performing arts opportunities for children in the area, especially affordable opportunities.  After searching for  a board of five amazing women, the idea came to fruition around a kitchen table and some great pie.

Where do you see your business in the next year?  Final Bow has grown year over year and this year, we moved to a new location, 116 East Third Street in Greenville.  This new location has allowed us the chance to collaborate with other performing and visual art businesses.  In the next year, we hope to form more relationships with local artists and art programs, as well as offer more unique opportunities for our students.  One specific program beginning in January, will be Final Bow Chorus, a children’s choir for students in middle school.

How has Greenville Federal helped your business grow? Greenville Federal has been very helpful in the growth of our businesses. Their business accounts with accruing interest is very beneficial, as well as the security on the credit and debit cards. We were also fortunate to be selected by Greenville Federal to have our students pass out GF sunglasses in our hometown Annie Oakley Day Parade.

What is the one thing about your business that people may not know? One thing many people may not realize is Final Bow is a nonprofit organization.  We offer scholarships to students unable to afford classes, work programs to pay for classes, offer many opportunities for community service hours, as well as offer fundraisers to help pay for costumes.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working? When we are not working, we enjoy spending time with our families and going to local and professional shows.
